Why is my site showing up as "Unsecure"?

Why your site might be showing up as not secure, or unsecure

In the top left of your screen you may see the broken lock and the term "unsecured" to your site. This is not an issue for your site unless you plan to take donations online, in which case you need to have your site secured by an SSL certificate. PoliEngine provides this for free once the setup is done correctly, so if you are not showing your certificate here are some ways to solve this.

Ensure you put the correct C Name into your DNS

PoliEngine installs the SSL certificate to your site, rendering it "secure" based on the C Name record. You can find this code by going to "Domains" and "Toggle DNS Settings". In there you will see what you need to enter into the DNS of your domain holder.

Your C Name will be Host/Name: www with the value being your domain, shown as youdomainhere.com

Give it Time

The C Name record is generally the slowest of the records to go through propagation. This can take up to 48 hours to push through the internet protocol before getting to us for the SSL installation. This generally takes less time, but it will take some time for the internet to fully propagate these changes.

Check Your A Record

If there is more than one A Record in your system it will show as unsecure. Go back and make sure there is only one A record, and that that A record is 34.202.63.170.

Message us

The installation of the security certificate should be seamless, but sometimes, especially if there were interruptions in the records, this process can go a bit sideways and we need to push it on our end to make sure it works. Just message us and we'll push it through to restart the process.
